
We get invites quite often on Facebook. A friend will ask you to like their page, and normally we do. But when you message someone you don’t know, let alone not check out what they might do for a business- it’s just WRONG. This is the message I got in my “other” message box on…

Couldn’t agree with you more. I receive these as a “tit-for-tat” I’ll like your page if you like mine, or a straight up message asking me to like a page when I don’t even know the person or their work. Sometimes I will take the time to check them out, but mostly I delete or ignore the requests.
It’s the same way I feel about automatic DMs on Twitter when you follow someone. Social media is supposed to be about building relationships first and foremost. “Selling” before you’ve done that relationship building is like putting the cart before the horse.
I agree and do my best not to do this kind of activity on FB. It seems to be happening more and more. I don’t like it and therefore don’t do it. Thanks for the reminder. Best Regards, Wendy UBC
