How NOT to invite someone to LIKE your Page on Facebook

We get invites quite often on Facebook. A friend will ask you to like their page, and normally we do. But when you message someone you don’t know, let alone not check out what they might do for a business- it’s just WRONG. This is the message I got in my “other” message box on…

Couldn’t agree with you more. I receive these as a “tit-for-tat” I’ll like your page if you like mine, or a straight up message asking me to like a page when I don’t even know the person or their work. Sometimes I will take the time to check them out, but mostly I delete or ignore the requests.

It’s the same way I feel about automatic DMs on Twitter when you follow someone. Social media is supposed to be about building relationships first and foremost. “Selling” before you’ve done that relationship building is like putting the cart before the horse.

I agree and do my best not to do this kind of activity on FB. It seems to be happening more and more. I don’t like it and therefore don’t do it. Thanks for the reminder. Best Regards, Wendy UBC

Hi Evelyn- Thank you! I was thinking that I was being picky. And I agree with you- social media is about building relationships and being social! Whooo woo! Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day.

Hello Wendy! I suppose that more and more people that don’t know better, will be doing it. We’ll just have to educate them so they will know better. Thanks for stopping by- enjoy your day.

Are you thinking outside the box?

The other day I went and got a soda can out of the refrigerator– only to find that it had apparently been dropped and the top was reshaped. This was going to be a challenge to get it opened. I tried to pull the tab, and all it did was break off. And then I…

Great post! When I find myself having to re-think my way fo getting something done, I ask myself “what would (insert relevant person) do in this situation?” this allows me to think outside of the box and 9/10 I get things done better than I expected to and to a much higher standard. I think it also helps to take in the character and/persona of someone who naturally succeeds, a bit of mental role play does wonders!

Hello Dawn- Love the positive way of dealing with stuff! Thank you for stopping by and brightening my day! Have a good one.

I feel like creative thinking outside the box is necessary to survive in the world today…everything is constantly changing! I actually like this because it allows us to grow and learn!

It is must today to think outside the box! Especially when working with people. What motivates, motivates. For me this is where Thinking Outside the Box is fun, challenging and rewarding. Thanks for the reminder. Best Regards, Wendy

Hello Michelle! I agree. It’s like coloring outside the lines! LOL Thanks for stopping by and commenting! Have a wonderful day.

Hi Wendy, thanks for stopping by and leaving a wonderful comment. I agree- it is fun and challenging to think outside the box! whooo wooo!

Do you have a Solid Business Foundation?

Many people are building their businesses on shaky ground. Not putting the key pieces in place before adding more and more components, which puts the business at risk of toppling over.  Are you doing that? Check out this video that Stacey Myers did for me on Kelley ProMedia: I was thrilled to hear that I…

Difference between a Group and a Business Page on Facebook

The other day I had a friend add me to a Closed Group on Facebook, and when I suggested that it would be better for this group to be a Business Page- I was shocked to hear that my friend did not know the difference! So let’s help to clear up what’s the difference is…

I have a business page. I also run a few groups that are closed. The groups, as you say, are for specific things and it’s easier to manage!

Thanks for this explanation Denys, I’m not too familiar with fb and still have a lot to learn, so this was very useful :)

Great post.

It is amazing how many people still don’t know the “ins and outs” of facebook and other social platforms.

I currently get ALL my new clients from referrals and the social networks.

And all my recent radio interviews, and speaking engagements and articles that people wanted to write about me, all came from them finding me on social networks.

You did mention one thing that I’ve been testing….that is the comment about pictures getting more engagement.

I’ve found that to be true on pages with a small number of likes but as your page grows, text only messages are getting about 5 times……that is right, a WHOPPING 5 time larger reach!!!

So watch it and when your page gets big enough, move to text posts mostly.

:-)

Kathy

Hello Arwen- Don’t you just love the groups? Thanks for stopping by – here’s to a wonderful day!

Hello Nicola- Thank you for your wonderful comment. Facebook is fun, but it’s always changing too. So grab on and enjoy it! Have a great day!

Hi Kathy- Thanks for the tip on text only. I still mix it up with pictures and text. Have a great day- enjoy.

Are you Committed to what you’re doing?

When I signed up to do the Ultimate Blog Challenge for April- I knew that there would be a few days that would be a little tricky. But I was committed! I wanted to do this challenge. What I didn’t know – was that there would be more than just a few days that were…

Yay for the completion of the challenge! I can’t wait to do it again in July!!

Whew hew! I did it too, and it was well worth it. I had fun, learned a lot and received a fair amount of new subscribers, friends and followers. I too, couldn’t have predicted all that would happen during the month to make it near impossible… I lost a family member during the month, but having this focus helped me through that as well.

Congratulations!

hi Ashley. So glad to hear that we will be dong this again in July! Congratulations to you too!
