Is your Facebook news-feed getting too busy?
Are you scrolling through tons of quotes and pictures to try and find what is being said?
Are you frustrated and not having fun?
Let’s change that so you can enjoy your news-feed.
I like to think of my news-feed as if it were a newspaper. There are people and pages that I want in my news-feed, and then there are others that I want in different sections. Just like a newspaper – sports, lifestyles etc.
So let’s get started on your news-feed to be what you want it to be.
On the left hand side of your news-feed, there should be a column called “Interests”

If you can’t find it…. Then go to www.facebook.com/addlist
Here Facebook will suggest some lists for you to subscribe to- check it out you might find one or two that you’ll like.
But to make your own list- just hit “Create List”
On the left side of the new page that opens- Pages will be selected- this is based on the Pages you have liked.

If you know what pages you want to put in your new list, then just click on them. No worries- you can add and delete pages at a later time if you wish. When you are finished clicking on the pages, just click “next” in the bottom right hand corner to continue.
You can also add people that you have “Subscribed” to and “Friends” to your Interest List.
After you have clicked the next button, the “Create New List“ will appear.

Before you chose a name decide if this list is going to be
Public- anyone can see it
Friends- only friends can see it and subscribe
Only me- Yours eyes only
Then choose a name.
Note- You might want to create a list in regards to your business, if so- add your business page to the list and have this list be public. You’ll want to share that you’ve made this wonderful list so others will want to subscribe.
You might want to make a list of your competition, and have it be for your eyes only.
After you have named and decided who gets to see it…. Click done! And Facebook will create your new list.
Facebook will make suggestions for you to add to your list on the right hand side when you are viewing your list. If you wish for them to be on your list…. Just click add. It really is that simple.
If you decide that you want to change the name of your list or make it private verse public you can “Manage” your list.
You can also edit your list and add or remove people and pages from it. Because you created it – you control it. Sweet!
One more thing to do to make your news-feed read the way you want- deciding if the pages you added to your Interest List should also show in your news-feed. (If you created the Interest List to clean up your news-feed, you will want them NOT to show in the News-feed.)
Yes- you can go to the pages that you have liked and have them not show in the news-feed. Just click on the “LIKE” button, and a drop down menu will appear. First your interest lists will show and right below that the “Show in News-feed”. Just un-check it. And now it will not show in your news-feed.
So remember that creating the Interest List is like creating sections of the newspaper. You’ll have your main news-feed, and then you’ll want to click on your Interest List to see what the other sections are saying. They will be on the left side of your news-feed. If you have quite a few, you’ll need to click on the “more” button to see your complete list of Interest lists.
There’s a few more little tricks- but I’ll save those for next time. Right now let’s get your news-feed looking like you want it so you’ll enjoy your Facebook experience.
